The importer reads Pinboard's JSON export without conversion, including the fields the format carries that most importers drop: your notes, your tags, the original save date, whether a link was private, and whether you had marked it to read later. Links you have already saved here are skipped rather than duplicated.
The same working habits
Space-separated tags, a bookmarklet that fills in the URL and title, a private flag per bookmark, an unread flag for the pile you mean to get to, and a public page with an RSS feed. Search runs across your titles, URLs and notes.
What's different
This is a smaller thing. There is no archival copy of the pages you save, no link-rot checking, no full-text search inside saved pages, and no API beyond the JSON feed on your public page. If those are the features you're paying for, you are paying for something real and this isn't a replacement for it.

How do I move my Pinboard bookmarks over?
Export from Pinboard as JSON, then upload the file on the import page. Tags, notes, dates, private links and unread flags all come across.
Does this archive a copy of the pages I save?
No. It stores the URL, the title, your notes and your tags. If a page goes offline, the link goes with it — that is the main thing Pinboard's paid archiving does that this doesn't.

Your public page is available as JSON and as RSS. There is no authenticated write API yet.
